The League of Women Voters of St. Paul (LWVSP) is pleased to announce its 2026 Fall Election Candidate Forums, taking place in September and October. Candidate Forums follow an impartial format established and published by LWV of the United States, LWV Minnesota, and LWVSP.

All forums are free and open to the public and the media.

LWVSP will provide a trained and impartial moderator to run the forum, explain procedure to the audience, and introduce the candidates. If an invited candidate is unable or unwilling to appear at a scheduled event, the event may still be held. The primary purpose of candidate forums is informational, to ensure that voters hear directly from candidates. It is not a debate or a talk show. All participants must be professional and respectful to one another, the candidates, the public, and event organizers. The audience will be asked to hold applause until the forum is concluded.

LWVSP will work with its partner Saint Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN) to record and post the recording online following the live event. Forums may be livestreamed as well. Audience members and campaign staff are discouraged from taking photos and recording. No video/audio clips of League-sponsored forums may be used for campaign purposes.

The audience may submit written questions throughout the forum; League staff will provide (and collect) note cards. Voters may also submit questions via email to forums@lwvstpaul.org before the event. Questions will remain confidential with all identifying information removed. LWVSP screens questions and reserves the right to edit submissions to ensure that questions are applicable to all candidates, forward-looking, not personal in nature, and that they are relevant to the office.

LWVSP is coordinating 9 candidate forums for state, county, and local offices in 2026. The setup for individual forums was determined by a number of factors, including the number of candidates for a given office, anticipated audience size, co-sponsorship agreements, and LWVSP volunteer capacity.
