A panel discussion regarding how to improve community responses to sexual assault.

Please join us for a moderated panel discussion regarding how to improve community responses to sexual assault. Tickets are free but required due to space limitations. The panel discussion will be preceded by a reception with light refreshments from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.


The panel discussion will be moderated by Mary Rice, President of LWV Bloomington. The panelists include Jennifer Bjorhus, one of the lead journalists working on the Star Tribune's Denied Justice series, Nicole Matthews, Executive Director of the Minnesota Indian Woman’s Sexual Assault Coalition, John Choi, Ramsey County Attorney, Paul Schnell, Inver Grove Heights Police Chief and Sarah Colford, Board Member of Break the Silence. Both Ms. Matthews and Chief Schnell sit on the task force convened by Attorney General Lori Swanson which will soon issue a report regarding proposed changes to state laws and policies to improve the investigation and prosecution of sexual assault. Questions for the panelists will be accepted in writing at the event.


The panel discussion will be broadcast live by the St. Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN) and will also be rebroadcast at later dates. Dates and times of the rebroadcasts will be shared on our website and lwvdakotacounty.org after the event.
